We aim to reduce poverty in Calderdale and inequalities and challenge mental health stigmatization amongst the Black community, refugees, and asylum seekers.
Our approach consists of ministering, educating and actively advocating for the adjustment of society to the needs and well-being of our members in Calderdale.
In addition, we care about the environment and climate change. Our actions target Calderdale’s household waste management handling. We inform and educate the community on efficient, friendly, ecologically household appliances usage; we upskill our members on the choice or consumption of sustainably locally produced commodities to reduce carbon emissions in Calderdale.
Spotlight Faith Group works towards these goals within the Calderdale region:

Promoting social inclusion for the public benefit among refugees and asylum seekers living in Calderdale who are socially excluded because of their economic and social position.
-
The creation of a local network group to encourage and facilitate greater integration of refugees and asylum seekers into the wider community.
-
The provision of information, advocacy, and general support to members.
-
Increase opportunities for refugees and asylum seekers to engage with public and private service providers, enabling adequate adaptation to meet the needs of our communities.
-
Achieve English language proficiency and vocational skills through education and training.
-
Improve access to social and recreational facilities and community events by encouraging members to participate in football matches, music classes, or cultural events in Calderdale.
